The first perception once I finished reading this article is interesting. But this article only consist personal opinion without providing any evidence. I discovered that the author was taking advantage by saying “because I am an adult and I know better” and “because I am ‘The Guru of Cool” to convince the readers to believe him and follow the steps to become cool teenagers without hesitation. This statement show there is appeal to inappropriate authority fallacy. The question is, should we follow the steps he recommends? This is because I think nobody is perfect and sometimes adult also can make mistakes.

Besides that, it is clearly shown that the article has slippery slope fallacy. The statement that shows this type of fallacy is “smoking really bad for health. It makes your teeth go yellow and gives a pungent stench to your sweat”. These are all the bad effects of smoking. Moreover, this article also consists of appeal to tradition. It is obvious by statement “I know, I know, some of you are allowed to drink alcohol when you come of age. For non-Muslims, they are allowed to drink alcohol by their parent once they have reach age of maturity.

As a conclusion, this article is interesting to read but it is nonsense to act as a reference to teenagers. He just writes this article based on his experience and his personal opinion. Not all teenagers can accept his article because they want something different from these steps to become cool.
